Review of The Dark Knight

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

“The Dark Knight” movie is directed by English-American film director, screenwriter, and producer Christopher Nolan known for his movies like Inception, Interstellar and Dunkirk. The movie is action packed-drama-thriller which has the capability to entertain people of all ages with its action-packed fight sequences and interesting story-line.

Set within a year after the events of Batman Begins (prequel of “The Dark Knight”, released in 2005), Batman, Lieutenant James Gordon (Gary Oldman), and new District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) successfully begin to round up the criminals that plague Gotham City, until a mysterious and sadistic criminal mastermind known only as "The Joker"(Heath Ledger) appears in Gotham, creating a new wave of chaos. Batman's struggle against The Joker becomes deeply personal, forcing him to "confront everything he believes" and improve his technology to stop him. A love triangle develops between Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), Dent, and Rachel Dawes.

The movie is very interesting and keeps you on the edge of your seat as you do not know what will happen next in your movie. The Joker who is considered as the best villain of all-time lives up to his hype as he is shown to be a criminal who kills people for fun with the motive to just invoke chaos, as in the movie he says,“ I am just an agent of chaos”.

The movie is set in a fictional city known as “Gotham City” which is architecturally modelled after New York City. The locations used in the movie are chosen according to the theme of the scene, that is, the locations complement the scene in a great way.

The message delivered through the movie is that in a world without justice, there is no way to fight the system without falling into corruption, apathy, or worse which is shown to us at the end.

I would suggest everyone watch this movie as it is everything you want from a movie from being action-packed to a sub-plot of love and funny at appropriate intervals hence creating a light mood throughout the movie.
